When Jeffrey Blackman set out to capture New England's covered bridges on film, his goal was to create not just a pretty, postcard-perfect picture but to tell a story about each bridge's history and usage throughout the years. He carefully studied each bridge from many angles before shooting, and took pains to show the environment surrounding each bridge in its photo.
