Directory of Chinese Agricultural and Related Organizations

China supports nearly one quarter of the world's population with produce derived from only one 15th of the total land area of the earth. Furthermore, some 80% of the Chinese population is engaged in agriculture and related sectors. This massive scale of production, processing and distribution requires an extensive network of organizations concerned with research, education, administration, and extension. The research network operates at the national, provincial and prefectural levels and involves a workforce of some quarter of a million professional and technical personnel. This directory brings together details of all the major Chinese institutions in agriculture and related sectors. It is the product of cooperation between CAB International and two of the leading scientific information centres in China - the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information for China (ISTIC) and the Scientific Documentation and Information Centre (SDIC) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The book includes 980 entries of organizations as well as a checklist of relevant Chinese journals. It is an indispensable reference work for agricultural libraries and those concerned with China.
