Since Ipswich's founding in 1634, the town has been home to farmers and fishermen, sea captains and furniture makers, and mill workers and clammers. Wealthy summer residents, artists, and photographers discovered Ipswich years later, capturing in photographs the town's rural landscapes, magnificent beaches, modest streetscapes, busy waterfront, local celebrations, and personalities.
