Local Protectionism and its Influence on the Post-WTO Market in China

Based on the investigation on the WTO process and local protectionisms, this book introduces interesting research results as follows:§§ The interests of China and other countries in WTO; § The historic, culture background and economic incentive of regional protectionisms, the different influences of regional politicians on the reform and opening policy;§ The administrative administrative market monopoly during the transition economy; the route dependence behaviours of the reform and the local officials;§ The game between central and local government;§ The important role of Guanxi and its influence on the protective behaviour in relation to the justice, abusing administrative power, forged goods and the grabbing economy, the foreign trade and FDI; § Guanxi, rent seeking and structure of regional seigneur power;§ The model of different degrees of local protectionisms of sub-national governments is established.§§This book seeks to make an empirical analysis and theoretical contributions to study of the local protectionism and its influence on the post-WTO market in China, and provides an overview of Chinese status quo since accession into WTO with the economic data up to date. §The expectation is that the book should serve well both economics majors as well as students in other areas and businessmen, investors and engineerswho want to investigate or work in China.
