The Energy Security of Bangladesh

The topic of Energy Security is extremely important these days. Most of the European countries together with the US and the emerging countries like China and India are all concerned about their sources of energy supply. However the developing countries should also worry about their energy security because they are the ones who are most vulnerable and would be affected most from any shortage of energy. As a result the purpose of this work is to highlight the energy security of a developing country like Bangladesh and whether it should go for gas export, as it is currently an important issue both for Bangladesh and its big South Asian neighbour. The purpose of this work is to analyze the energy scenario in Bangladesh and would cover the countries entire energy structure, starting from domestic needs, gas pricing, the role of the state owned company, the role of IOC's the production sharing contracts signed and the country's energy security concerns and whether it is in a position to export gas. This work would be of interest to lawyers, economists, energy specialists, political scientists who wants to have an idea about the energy scenario in Bangladesh and to some extent South Asia.
